Report: Improving Land Remediation Relief

EIC, in conjunction with the Home Builders Federation and the Fiscal Incentives Group, has published a new report setting out proposals to improve Land Remediation Relief as a means to stimulating brownfield development. The full report can be downloaded HERE.

Commenting on the report, EIC's Executive Director Matthew Farrow said:

"The UK needs more housing and a lot of this could be built on brownfield land – avoiding the needs for construction on greenfield/greenbelt areas. The Government recognises this and has some promising ideas in terms of its proposed Brownfield Register and Brownfield Fund. But housebuilders' investment decisions are largely driven by the economics of different sites and greenfield sites are usually more attractive. There is a solution – a reform of Land Remediation Tax Relief to help even up the economics of brownfield and greenfield sites. We have worked with the Home Builders Federation and EIC member The Fiscal Incentives Group to put together a package of reform proposals that would make a real difference."
