The Environmental Industries Commission (EIC), in conjunction with sustainability consultants Acclaro Advisory, have published the results of industry-led research into the use of smart meter data to drive behaviour change in the non-domestic sector. While a smart meter has some benefit in providing more accurate readings of total energy consumption, it does not in itself result in greater uptake of energy efficiency – it only provides the data that can enable this to happen.
