Adrian Wilkes is the Founder Director of The Environmental Industries Commission, which was launched in April 1995 to promote the international competitiveness of the British environmental technology and services industry by providing an effective voice with U.K. and EC policymakers on the key issues of regulation, R&D, and export promotion. It now has over 150 Member Companies and the support of leading politicians and opinion-formers.

He has been Secretary of the all-party Parliamentary Environment Group since its formation in early 1993.

He qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, in 1984, after obtaining an Honours Degree in Law (M.A.) from Downing College, University of Cambridge. He then specialised in political consultancy, concentrating on environmental issues.

In June 1990 Adrian Wilkes established Environmental Policy Consultants, Britain's first specialist environmental lobbying and PR consultancy to help British companies win competitive advantage from the environmental agenda.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Water and Environmental Management.

In 1990 Adrian Wilkes won a P.R.C.A. Award for Outstanding Consultancy Practice, and a "Face to Watch in the 1990's" award from PR Week.

He writes regularly on environmental issues, and edits "EC Environmental Policy Monitor". He is also on the Editorial Advisory Board of Forum for the Future's "Green Futures" magazine.

He has given numerous speeches on environmental policy, lobbying and PR, notably at The National Press Club, Washington DC, The 1991 Consumer Congress and The Civil Service College in London.
